The foundation normally meets twice a year, in the fall and spring and will consider requests for capital programs, special projects or operating income. It is the policy of the trustees to support charitable organizations that are well known to the trustees, with emphasis on hospitals, medical research, education, youth agencies, cultural activities, and programs addressing the needs of minorities.
No grants are made outside the United States, or to individuals. Generally, the foundation confines its grants primarily to the New England area. Organizations funded by the Edwin S. Webster Foundation must be tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and not a private foundation within the meaning of section 509(a) of the Code.
Although the foundation can only support a very small portion of the number of organizations that apply, we wish all applicants success in their endeavors.
How to Apply
Applications are submitted to GMA Foundations electronically; information about using GMA’s online application form is available here. The Edwin S. Webster Foundation has two application rounds per year. The deadlines are May 1 and November 1. If the deadline dates fall on a weekend or holiday, the date is extended to the next regular working day. It is advisable to contact the foundation office before submitting an application. For 2017, we are extending the deadline till May 3 as our office is moving at the end of April.
